Hello everyone,

I'm having a strange problem with Excel 2000. After i click for the first
time my left mouse button, the mouse enters selection mode, as if i was
pressing the shift key.
I've browsed the net for a solution, even the MS support site with no
success.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Or has a clue of what could be appening?

Thanks in advance,

Paulo Silva

Maybe you accidentily pressed F8 (Extend Selection)?

Hi Paulo

Among the "twilight zone" problems might or might not be
- speech recognition is activated and something is generating random commands (probably
not with 2000);
- wireless keyboards or mice of same brand/frequencies are operating nearby.

Hi Paulo

I have encountered the same problem with Excel 97 and am wondering if
the problem is mouse related, rather than a software problem. What
mouse are you using? I currently use a Genius 3 button scroll mouse
and wonder if a tiny scroll message (accidental wheel movement) while
left clicking, might be triggering the problem. I swapped to a 2 button
mouse for a week and had no problem, but that is far less than
conclusive, as I can go a week without the problem anyway.

The problem isn't usually related to the mouse. I have 200+ computers i
which i've seen this Excel problem half a dozen times andwe've trie
changing the mouse.

Basically I can restart the machines and it fixes the problem but tha
interrupts work. I've tried software patches and re-patches and viru
checking and office reinstalls and it still hasnt gone away.

If anyone figures this problem out, lemme know!
