quick quesiton regarding Excel 2002. When i type something in a cell that
has brackets around it the program automatically replaces it to a negative
number.

ie- (2026) becomes -2026

or when i type June 05 it turns it into 05.Jun

what can i do to stop this?!!

your help is most appreciated.

thanks

Either pre-format the cells as Text or precede the (2056) with an apostrophe.

For second problem, it would appear your Windows Regional and Language Options
Date Separator is a period(.)

Open Control Panel and make changes there.

BTW Entering Jun-05 will not give you a valid June 5th date. It will give
you June 1st, 2005

If you just want Jun 05 as Text, see first sentence.

Thanks for the help.

There isn't much i can do about the period being the separator for the date
because i need this for other databases i am using. =)

cheers.

You need to use Format/Cell/Number to show the numbers the way yo
want.
This does not change the numbers, only how they show on th
spreadsheet
