We have a customer who is attempting to download an Excel
spreadsheet from an ASP website. After selecting the link
to download, the system prompts (malicious virus) you to
Open, Save , or Cancel. If you choose Open the system
hangs. If you choose save it works fine. Any ideas?

OS: XP Professional
SP 1
496 MB Ram
HP Pavilion
1.3 ghz

IE: 6.0.2800.1106.XPSp2.030422-1633
SP 1 Q824145

Thanks.

It is hard to diagnose this by remote analysis of the client's computer.
If the server system works for other clients, it is possible that this
client has an anti-virus or firewall, etc, that is interfering with
opening directly. Do other clients successfully open the file from the
server? Is the client *supposed* to open from the server, i.e., does
the server support opening directly? Download is usually right-click
and "save target as...".
