Hello to all,

I am trying to create a graph in excel but rather than a series of data I
want to imput values from one cell which will change from day to day. For
example the value in the cell could be 5 one day and then 4 on another,
depending on other variables. I would therefore like the graph to plot the
changes in the cell value over time. Ive had a good look and cant find out
how... Would apreciate any help.

Thanks again,

Gareth

How can you plot a graph from a single cell ??

You would need to build up a series of historical data in another part
of your sheet, where you could record the date in one column and the
value in another, and then just paste special | values from your
tracking cell each day.

Hope this helps.

basically i was hoping it could up date the graph everytime the value in the
cell changed? Ie if monday the value is 5 then tue the val is 6 then wed the
value is 7 - the line on graph would be in an up trend with values on the y
axis and dates on the x axis... Is this possible?

Yes, but only in the way I suggested. How can the graph remember the
previous values, when it gets its values from cells?

OK, so the paste special would update the chart automatically from the
historical data? I am trying this now... Is there a way in which we could get
the historical data to auto update (i.e. add a new date and value) everytime
the value in the cell changes?

Thanks for your patience Pete Im pretty novice in Excel!

What activates the change in the cell value?

Calculated value or manual change?

Give us a cell adress to work with.

I'm thinking some type of event code which takes the value each day, places
that value in an ever-increasing range and date stamps the time of change.

Thanks for the response, yes something like this would be ideal... The cell
is calculated from inputed values infact its simply the difference between
two other cell values. I input the data manually in these two cells daily
based on data I get, but i may like to do so more often ie once an hour?! ill
worry about that later... For now a daily update of the historical data would
be great. The method would simply have to update the historical everytime the
data in the cell changes, this would then automatically update the graph (it
already does this through the method shown in the link below).

The date stamp you talk of would surely be possible as excel could take note
of the time and date of the change in the cell value and assign the date to
it?
