Excel Freezes from Explorer

Hello,

I've got a new pc - with a 1.8 Ghz procesor, Office 2000
and Xp Home Edition. If I open an excel doc from Windows
Explorer - the first doc opens ok. If I close screen and
redo all the above - the explorer screen freezes and show
a mixture of Exploere & Excel trying to open. I've loaded
latest service packs and have 512MB ram.

Any Ideas ??
