Excel file will not open

Hi:

I have an Excel file created in Excel 2000 which appears
to be corrupted. I tried opening it, but it just would
not open to show the work sheet. Double clicking on the
file's shortcut would only open Excel and a gray screen
with the correct file name on top. I could open the file
in Word Pad but not in Word of Excel File Viewer. Can
anyone offer any solutions which may help me in
recovering the contents or reconstructing the file?

I'm having the same problem same symptoms. Didn't use
excel 9/30/03 But havn't been able to see any
spreadsheets today. Updated Office/ uninstalled and
reinstalled, still same thing.
