Hi,

I am having a problem with the error message "Excel.exe
has generated errors and will close the program". This
only occurs when creating several copies of the same
worksheet within the same workbook. It always creates the
error message on the sixth copy. I know I can have more
than 5 copies of the same worksheet.

Thanks for the help.

try opening the file and then the VBE (Alt+F11), Look at the sheet names in
the pane on the left. I suspect one will have lots of 11111111111111111s
after it. This was a bug in XL97 (2000?) whereby a hidden codename of the
sheet increments by one each time it is copied. Copying a master helps each
time...copying a copy gives the issue. There is a limit to the number of
cahracters and when this is reached Excel crashes.

You can correct this by selecting the offending sheet in the top pane and
then in the lower pane, change the (name) property. This should effect
nothing providing no code you have place in the file depends on it. It will
not, if applied correctly, change the tab name of the worksheet.

You can read up on this in the MS knowledge base
