Now I understand the potential problem with long complex formulas, but my
issue is with a straight forward old school math problem. I was given a
piece of math trivia. 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321. I
like patterns and thought that this was pretty cool. However, I decided to
verify the number in excel and the answer came out differently. Excel when
told to calculate the problem came back with 12,345,678,987,654,300. It was
off by 21. There is no super complex math formula, just straight math. I did
it two ways: =A1*A2 and then straight out =111111111*111111111. Both ways
came back off by 21. So then I did the problem long hand and wouldn’t you
believe it, excel is actually wrong. Is there a limit to excels ability to
calculate past a certain number?
