When trying to save a worksheet I get the following error message: Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. When I check the error log, I get this message: Renamed one or more invalid names. Then it proceeds to repair the file and save, only to go through the entire process again. Any suggestions?

Hi Michelle,

This isn't guaranteed to solve the problem, but it's worth a try. Use
Windows Explorer to search all of your hard disks for files with a .XLB
extension. Delete any that you find. Excel uses these files to store
information about its toolbar configuration, but they frequently become
corrupted and cause strange errors like this. Excel will create clean new
default versions after you delete the old corrupt ones, but you will lose
any toolbar customizations you've made in Excel.
