I have been using Excel 2007 since it was first released. A common problem
has been that after using several large spreadsheets for several hours, Excel
seems to freeze. The screen will only be partially redrawn and while other
programs remain functional, Excel is not. I am using Win XP SP2, have 2GB of
RAM on an IBM thinkpad. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Hello mk,

Try to change the virture memory of your PC by going to : Control Panel >
Performance and maintenance >System > Advance > Performance > Setting
Advance > Virtual Memory > Change > System Managed Size > Set > OK and
Reboot your PC.

After this try to check your hard disk for errors by going to My
Computer and right click Local Drive C > Properties > Tool > Errror Checking
Click Check now , tick two boxes for automatic fixed file errors and scan
to recover bad sector . After this click start . Turn off and reboot your PC.
Disk check will complete in 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the size your drive C.

After completing disk check, do a disk defragmentation by going to My
Computer, right click at local drive C > Properties > Tool > Defragment now >
click again at defragment in the next screen This process will take about 20
minutes or longer depending the size of your drive C.

After these three processes, restart your PC and test your Excel 2007
again. I hope this could solve your problem.

Thanks
