Ray

I was working on a file in Excel and it generated an
error and closed. The file was not saved. I was
wondering if it saved a copy somehow on my pc? If it did
does any body know where it would save it to.

Thanks, need help quick please.

Dear Ray:
In Excel 97-- If the workbook was unnamed and you had
your "Auto Save" feature enabled it might appear in
the "My Documents" "Auto Save" folder.

And what about if you were working on a file and you
closed and did not say yes to save. The auto save option
was also selected, will it still be in the "Auto Save"
folder?

Check the default folder for any file with a string of numbers, no
extension, and perhaps starting with ~, i.e., ~c0987b4568 or something
similar. Try double-clicking that file, and see if it opens to the
sheet. The temporary working files often look like this, and if Excel
crashed, it might not have cleaned it up.
