Excel Closes Spreadsheets sporadically

I have two user's running Windows XP SP1, and one is runnin Excel 2002(SP3)
the other Excel 2003 (SP2). The scenarios are a little different, but the
same result.
In Excel 2003 the user will have several spreasheets open, 6 or 7. He
minimizes excel goes and does another task, and when he comes back, one of
the spreadsheets is closed and his changes are lost. He does not get a
prompt to save changes. This has happened to him a number of times.

The user of excel XP has a problem where he has some spreadsheets open, then
he opens another and it will close the first spreadsheet.

Are there any macros in any of these files that it's happening to, such as
in the Activate or Deactivate event of the worksheet rather if it's found
under the worksheet object or the workbook object? This is assuming you
know how to work with VBA (Macros in Excel).
