Excel chart size

I am trying to create a standard Excel chart size so that I can copy the
charts into Powerpoint. I have tried to put each chart on its own chart
sheet. However, it seems that the size of the chart varies depending on
which computer is used. Is there a way to create a custom sized chart sheet?
Is there another way to create a standard sized graph in Excel that can be
copied into Powerpoint? I would prefer to use chart sheets since they seem
support linked Excel charts better.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
I am not aware of this problem, and it may have to do with the zooming factor
you have on both PCs?
Anyway, I believe the easiest way is to set the frame in PPT to accomodate
your chart. Select the frame that you want to contain the pasted chart and
its size will be adjusted to the frame size (be aware the aspect ratio will
be maintained so either the width or the height will determin yr chart size).
So if you set the PPT destination slide as a standard template your chart
will be of consistent size. I didnt test it at length, though, so you may
have to try a bit.

Thanks for the reply. I guess what I am really trying to do is create
an Excel chart on its own chart sheet with an aspect ratio of 1.75:1.
I am trying to stay away from imbedded charts if possible since they
don't seem to work as well as linked charts. Any suggestions?
 
Figure out the height and width you want, then in page setup adjust margins
so you have that much space on the chart sheet between margins. For example,
if my chart should be 5" wide and 3" high, my left and right margins should
be (11-5)/2 or 3", and my top and bottom margins should be (8.5-3)/2 or
2.75". Also, uncheck size with window in Tools menu > Options > Chart tab.

Thanks for your repsonse. I apologize for my slow response but I am
just getting back from vacation. I tried your suggestion and it worked
in Excel. However, when I tried to embed that chart into a Powerpoint
slide, the dimensions of the chart were different than what was on the
chart sheet.

For example, I adjusted the margins in the Excel chart sheet so that
the chart dimensions were 5" x 5" (aspect ratio = 1). But when I
copied this chart into Powerpoint, the dimensions were 3.8" x 6.7"
(aspect ratio = 1.75). I am not as concerned about the absolute size
of the chart since I can always resize in Powerpoint. I am more
concerned about the aspect ratio.

Is there a way to create a chart sheet in Excel so that the aspect
ratio is maintained when it is copied into PowerPoint. Any thoughts?
 
With the chart as the active sheet, save the workbook, then close it. Open
the PowerPoint presentation, and on the Insert menu, select Object, and
click on the Create From File tab. Browse to the workbook and click insert.
This technique is most reliable at preserving size and formatting of the
original chart.

I meant to include this part, but must have forgotten.

Thanks for the reply. Your suggestion worked great although this
process can be a bit unwieldy if I need to copy many Excel charts into
PowerPoint. I did notice that I only needed to follow your suggestion
if I was embedding the chart within Powerpoint. If I was linking the
chart, the aspect ratio was maintained.
 
Yes, I knew that too, and considered mentioning it. I'm glad you've
