I need to animate an Excel line chart with each series to be appear
individually but only one at a time. so first series is displayed on its
own, then second series is displayed on its own without the first etc.

I can get the series to appear one after each other, but ony if the previous
series remain on the chart. Is there a way to turn off previous series once
they have been presented so that only one line appears at a time?

You will need to ungroup the chart twice and then group the elements of each
line. Then animate each line using entrance and exit wipes.

Note you wont be able to edit the data if you do this.

Thank you John, I had already tried ungrouping and had reached the point of
throwing the computer out of the window because I couldn't select each
individual line!

Now thanks to you I realise that I need to ungroup twice. This seems to
have worked though I now have one graph line that refuses to be selected as a
whole line. Currently considering whether to convert into a Flash file
instead.

Cheers,

Paul

To help select the lines and "points"

Tools>customise
Choose Commands tab>Drawing and then drag "select multiple objects " onto a
toolbar. This is a very useful tool! Your lines and points will probably show
up as "freeform xxx" and you should be able to work out whats what and tick
to select the right bits before grouping them

This is a fantastic addition. Using this tool it turns out that my chart
line had been split into no less than 64 objects that were either free form
or line, once identified I could regroup them into one line.

So I have now managed to create the animation the way I wanted with each
line appearing using 'entrance appear' and disappearing using 'exit
disappear' before the next line appears.

The last thing I need to do is loop it back so the sequence re-runs until I
request that the next slide is shown with a mouse click. Any ideas?

Thank you once again for all your help.

Cheers,

Paul
