Hi

I frequently copy and past data from a particular website
and paste it into Excel 2000. The data is in the form x-y,
where both x and y are integers. Unfortunately, depending
on the values of x and y, Excel automatically formates the
pasted data as dates. How can I stop this?

I know I can use the importing function to pull data in
from a web page and via that I can switch off the
automatic formatting. However, the webpage concerned is
password protected so this method doesn't work.

Please help as this is driving me nuts

Cheers

Alistair

Any chance you could copy|paste into notepad. Save that as a .txt file and then
file|open the text file in excel.

Then you can specify Text for those fields.
