Excel and Pictures

I would like to understand how Microsoft Excel handles pictures when it is
deleted.

I have come to realize that the pictures that are inserted into Microsoft
Excel and then deleted, are not really deleted but hidden between lines
between the rows.

I have tried the activesheet.shapes.selectall function to try remove it but
it still is not perfect.

I deal generally with a lot of pictures in Excel, and would really like to
understand how Excel handles pictures specifically.

Thank you for your time.

Jin

How did you reach the conclusion that pictures deleted by the user are
hidden by XL between rows? It seems like something out of a sci-fi
story.

In any case, in the VBE Immediate Window I entered
?activesheet.shapes.count three times as below:

With an empty worksheet, the result was zero.
After inserting a picture, the result was one.
After selecting the picture and pressing the Delete key, the result was
zero.

Perhaps Jin has deleted some rows, and the pictures that were on the
rows were squished, instead of being deleted with the rows.

The pictures wouldn't be visible, but would show up in a list of objects.

Hi Debra,

Yeah, I figured that the picture height becoming zero was a
possibility. That's why the specific reference to 'pressing the Delete
key' {smile}
