I'll try to be as descriptive as I can.
Office 97 installed on a Windows XP machine. All other Office programs work
just fine, but Excel is having problems.
I open Excel and then go to File -> Open and select a file to open. It then
displays an error about the file being corrupt or damaged. I get a similar
error when I double-click a file icon via Windows Explorer, but the error
message is about the file not being found (files are on the local hard drive).
All .xls files act this way. However, if I open excel and pick a file from
the Recent Documents section of the File menu, they open just fine. But
those same files won't open from File -> Open, or from Windows Explorer.
Any ideas? (much appreciated)
