Excel 97 crashes when changing the properties of text, i.e. font/bold/colour

I have a user running Office 97 on Windows 2000 and when
they try to change the text properties of a cell, i.e.
changing font sytle, size, bold, colour etc. excel crashes
and shuts down.

I have tried unisntalling and reinstalling the Office
suite and all service packs have been applied.

The default font for the cell is Arial, I have tried
removing this font and reinstalling it still with no
success.

Apart from reinstalling the operating system does anyone
have any other suggestions or have they seen this issue
before.

I have sorted the problem thanks to a post from Gary
Adamson.

The problem was the default printer could not be found,
and aparently the font settings were being pulled from the
print driver and as that was not available it was
returning the error and crashing excel
