excel 365? develop offline?

I have a client with Office 365. He wants me to modify his workbook.
What "version" is Excel here and can he download a workbook for me to
work on? I do not want access to his site.

The minimum version req'd <AFAIK> is 2007SP2. The client should be able
to email the file to you.
