I have windows XP pro with office 2007 basic. I have 5 of these machines. On
this machine when I open an Excel document and try to close it. The GUI
interface disappears but when I go to task manager Excel is still running. I
can close using the "X" up in the right corner or go to the "Exit Excel"
button and try to close it. Both do not close Excel. If I start in safe mode
then it will exit Excel properly. There are no active Add-ins. The only extra
thing I can find is "QI Macros 2009" and all the machines have this. This is
the only one that is having a problem.

We have not seen this before so we do not believe QI Macros is the problem. That seems to be confirmed since you have other machines with the QI Macros that are working.

If you want to make sure, you can uninstall the QI Macros using the file at this link. http://www.qimacros.com/techsupport.html#uninstall

If that makes your problem go away, let me know and we can troubleshoot with you further.

Does the computer with the problems have the latest service pak(2) loaded?
