This question has been addressed previously and the responses generally refer
to the MS solution of unchecking the "Ignore other applications" box in
"Excel Options". In our situation, that box is NOT checked but we still have
the problem. Our workaround is to minimize Excel which then brings up the
file - or opening it from within Excel. We use Windows XP.
Interestingly, my colleague and I upgraded to Office Professional 2007 at
the same time. She had the problem from the outset and I did not but we
didn't know what was different. I began experiencing this problem when I
uninstalled several of the "Office Live" applications - I think one of them
related to viewing .xlsx files.
We would appreciate any thoughts/solutions.
