Excel 2007 - File error: data may have been lost

Kelly C.

I am working in Excel 2007, and I'm recieving the following message upon
opening a file, "File error: data may have been lost". The file opens, but
some formulas have been wiped out and "=#N/A" appears in their place. The
affected formulas use the WORKDAY function.

I saw a couple of related postings in Nov. and Jan., but it doesn't look
like it was resolved. Also, there appear to be similar issues with earlier
versions of Excel, to which Microsoft appears be working on it.

Is Microsoft aware of this issue? Are they working on a resolution?

Hi,

I think you need to repair the file. You may try Advanced Excel Repair
at http://www.datanumen.com/aer/ This tool is rather useful in
salvaging damaged Excel xls files.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Alan,

But, if it's an issue within Excel 2007, then it will just keep happening,
won't it? Since it appears to have been reported on these boards previously,
I would like to hear from someone
a) whether Microsoft is aware of the problem and whether they are working on
a solution; and
b) whether there are any reasonable work-arounds.
