I teach statistics and am finding that in the "Line Fit Plot", a very
important part of regression output, has the line in error for Excel 2007 but
not for Excel 2000 and 2003, both of which I have been using for years with
my classes. In all 3 versions of Excel the "Line Fit Plot" has to be
adjusted through menus to make it show a line, but when this is done for the
2007 version, the line looks somewhat reasonable but is actually in error! I
did not catch this until I started grading my students' computer homeworks
and found they all had the same incorrect lines. This is a serious error.

What apparently happens is that the line and the fitted points are plotted
with independently different scalings, whereas the whole point of a line fit
plot is to use the SAME coordinates for both line and points to see how they
lie relative to each other.
