excel 2003 upgrade from works

a software vendor is telling us that if we purchase the
excel 2003 upgrade (eligibility from works suite), that
when it gets installed it will wipe out works.

this doesnt make sense, but i wanted to check out there if
anyone else can verify this.

Excel and works are 2 totally seperate programs.

Upgrading to Excel 2003 even from another version of Excel will not overwrite it
unless you allow it to.
