Excel 2003 SAVE Problems

For security reasons have got some private spreadsheets stored on a USB
portable 2.5" drive which I can freely access, amend and save with Excel 2003
under Windows XP Professional SP2. However when using same setup but with
Vista beta right up to Vista RC2 I can open the file but it is always marked
"read-only" and will not save using the same file name. I have checked the
file properties via Explorer and the 'make read-only' box is unchecked.
Cannot see any obvious way to remedy this - any ideas, please?

Hello,

You will need to edit the security on the file to give yourself write
access.

1.. Right-click it
2.. Click Properties
3.. Click the Security Tab
4.. Click Edit
5.. Click Add
6.. If you are the only one that needs modify access to this file, type
your username and press enter. Otherwise, type "Users" and press enter.
7.. Click the checkbox under Allow next to Full Control
8.. Click OK
9.. Click OK
