I have Excel 2003 installed on my desktop computer as well as my laptop.
I believe this agrees with the EULA.

On the desktop, I have added some commands to the main menu (the menu
that contains File, Edit View and others) that I always want to be
readily available whenever I run Excel. The set up runs exactly like I
want and I am very comfortable with it. Now, I want to duplicate that
menu setup on the laptop. I ran Office Tools/Save my setting wizard on
the desktop, copied the resulting file to the laptop and restored the
settings there. I expected the modified menu to appear on the laptop
but it didn't.

What file(s) do I need to transfer from the desktop to the laptop in
order to make the laptop's menu like the desktop's?

Thank you very much.

The file is Excel.xlb. If they both have the same operating system and
installed drive letter they should reside in the same place. If they don't,
just replace the one on the laptop. The files are hidden so you will need
advance option settings in search to find them

Thank you, Nick. That did the trick even though it sounds almost too
simple.

One other thing, please. Where in all of the KB articles,
documentation, etc. should I have looked to find this answer without
cluttering up the NG with a question that had such a simple answer?

Thanks again.

Thank you, Gord. I somehow don't think it is intuitive regardless.
Maybe experience with querying would yield the answer. :)

I was referring to the fact that Menu and Toolbar customizations have to be
saved somewhere.

By using the word "customizations" in my search, my chances of finding out
about the *.xlb file were increased.

Thus the term "intuitive" to an experienced user and searcher.

There are a myriad of places to get answers...here was as legitimate as any
