WinXP Pro SP2 + Office2003 OEM

All the applications open, edit and save in the netwoth HDD but Excel2003
doesn't save.

It opens an existing file, we try to save it and it shows a error message
related with sharing permissions. It creates a temp file but even that
returns error. All other applications work perfectly.

Even with a new worksheet it does the same. Does not allow to save in the
network drive. The same users in other computers have no problem.

It's a brand new machine, new software.

Error ID 10036.

Thank's

What kind of error do you get when the temp file is created?

When excel saves a file, it saves it as a funny name. If that goes ok, it
deletes the old file and renames that funny file to the old name.

Are you sure your permissions are set for renaming and deleting (as well as
creating)?

Another thing that gets pointed at with this kind of error is the antivirus
software. Can you (temporarily) disable the AV software and see if that helps?

But if you get permission errors, I think that's where I'd start complaining to
my IT department.

Hi Dave
Thank's for you answer.
Excel tries to save the temp file but it has 0bytes. Yes I'm sure that the
permissions are ok, in other machine working with OfficeXP the same users can
do everything. Create, edit, save...

The error it's always the same. It start's to say "someone might have
changed the file" asks if I want to overwrite it or to save with another
name. Either one I choose it always tries to save the file, error, tries to
save the temp file, error. Code ID 10036.

The network disk is an ASUS WL-HDD2.5 connected to a router Vigor2900g.
I have 2 desktops pc's working perfectly, 2 portible computers working by
wireless doing just fine, all of them with WinXP (3 Pro, 1 Home edition) and
OfficeXP, but this one with Office2003... Another new error. Word 2003. 1st
save after edit -> OK, 2nd save -> disk full error.

I'm going crazy. I also asked Asus for help. Still wating for an answer.

Thank's again. Please think of this and if you have any suggestions it's
very very very welcome

You are way past me with the hardware stuff.

Next time it happens, write down the error message exactly.

Then go to google and search for that phrase within the excel newsgroups--and
word, too!

Thank's again Dave

Next monday at the office I'll try google search. But more and more I'm
leaned to that it might be hardware bug and not from Office 2003.

Take care, all the best
