If you open an excel file from outlook, and it's READ ONLY, but decide to
make changes and what have you, does the autosave feature still work ? Or
does it not with read only files ?

I am looking for the autosave file because the excel program was closed and
I suspect discard changes was clicked. Even though the autosave would be
deleted I thought a third party undelete app would find and be able to
recover it, assuming it ever existed.

Thanks,
Aart.

xl2003 doesn't come with autosave--it comes with autorecovery. And I don't
think that autorecovery would be affected by the readonly status of the file,
since it saves as a different file in a different folder.

Or did you really load the autosave addin from xl2k or earlier?

Nope I just gave it the wrong name, tested it with office 2007 and it works
with read only files, just needed to make sure.

Thanks
Aart
