Unless you have added lots of charts, graphics or similar, probably there is
something (even a space character or just formatting) in a cell on one (or
more) sheets way beyond the end of the area you are really using. In each
sheet, use CTRL+END to see where Excel thinks the last used cell is. If this
is beyond where you think it should be, delete all rows below your real used
are (at least as far as the place CTRL+END found), using delete on the edit
menu, not the delete key on the keyboard (as that key clears cell contents
rather than deleting the cells). Then do the same for columns to the right
of your real used area. Save the file. (In some versions of Excel you also
need to close Excel and restart it.) CTRL+END should now take you to a
sensible place, and your file should be much smaller.
