I have a mystery error which would seem quite simple to fix, but
neither me or my colleague know how to solve, and we are both quite
proficient at Excel.
Example:
1) Cell B2, I reference A2, with a simple "=a2" reference.
2) Cell a2 contains the letter 4, So the cell b2 also is set to 4
3) I change cell a2 to 18.
4) cell b2 remains 4.
My spreadsheet has always been fine, but something happened and now my
cell references will not update instantaneously. Imagine a very large
workbook with hundreds of references and none of them work properly.
The only way I can get the cell to update with the changes is to hit
the F2 button, or reenter the formula. Imagine trying to do that every
time you change one cell.
The issue is vexing and perplexing. I have no answers and I have never
seen a posting on this before and as far as I know my colleague and I
are the only people in modern history to ever have this problem. It
doesn't even work if you click on save and then come back into the
program.
