Excel 2000, crashes when saving

I developed a moderately complex Excel 2000 worksheet
based on a file I received, that was created in an
earlier Excel version (I don't know which).
The file now is approximately 600K. The worksheet
contains numerous functions. As long as the worksheet
contained no macros everything was fine, but after I
recording a few very simple macros, the worksheet crashes
every time I try to save.
Rebooting doesn't help. I use WinXP Pro, an updated
Norton antivirus, all OS and Office updates and patches
are installed. A complete antivirus scan just prior to
sending this email detected no viruses.
Any suggestions how to save this file ?
Thanks
Ben

I tried Kevin Stcyk's recommendation given to a similar
problem a few emails back.
It solved the crash problem beautifully.
Kevin: thanks. Forgive me for taking the liberty of
copying your recommendation here, I'm sure many will be
extremely glad to use it.
Whoever reads this recommendation please take note that
all credit goes to Kevin !!!!.
This is what Kevin recommended:

" Your file might be corrupted. Try the following:

- Save the file as filetype webpage (html)
- close and reopen the html file
- save-as normal excel workbook

Let us know how it works out.

Best regards,
Kevin "

Ben,

And I am indebted to Bill Manville and Jan Karel Pieterse, both are Excel
MVPs, for this technique. We all plagiarize each other, and we do so in a
sincere form of flattery. Very little is unique or new, as most
questions/topics have been covered many times before. You can always search
Google's archives for Excel help here:
http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*excel.

Nonetheless, I am glad to hear that the solution worked for you and you
thought to give me credit.

Best regards,
Kevin
