I am using Office 2000 and have installed up through SP3.
When I attempt to download an Excel template from
Microsoft.com (specifically, from a subpage under
http://office.microsoft.com/templates/default.aspx?
CTT=6&Origin=EC790020111033), I get the error:
"EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error
log has been created. <OK>"
The DR Watson log contains the entry:
"Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=1424)
When: 7/9/2004 @ 10:54:35.935
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)"
where pid 1424 is Excel.exe.
I AM ABLE TO DOWNLOAD OTHER OFFICE TEMPLATES -- Word and
PowerPoint templates download correctly.
NOTES:
* I am attempting to download an Excel template that is
supposed to work in Excel 97 and above.
* I have attempted this download from 3 different
computers, all with the same results.
* The error listed above is the same as that documented
in MS knowledge base article 248218 -- "XL2000: Crash
When Saving Workbook as Web Page". That article indicated
the fix was contained in Microsoft Office Service Release
1/1a. I installed this service release several years ago,
and have continued to keep "up-to-date." As mentioned
above, I currently have up through SP3 installed.
I appreciate any advice you can give me on how to proceed.
Thanks
