Steph

I've never used a xp embedded before or a thin client, so
this is all unknown territory for me. I know that to make
permenant changes, like the administrator password and
adding network domain that i need to alter the enhanced
write filter(ewf). I know how to call up the dos prompt
w/CMD and the specific commands such as ewfmgr c:-commit
and so forth. but i don't know which one to use. when i
make changes, is it suppose to be disable or enable while
i'm making the changes and what is it suppose to be on
when i restart. and when i have to disable, it is not
responsing to my -disable command?

If you don't have EWF partition
try using -CommitandDisable instead of -Disable

The state of EWF doesn't change until you reboot.
So, you'll need to do ewfmgr -commit or, as slobodan says, for EWF with no
control partition, commitanddisable, reboot, make your changes, do
ewfmgr -enable and reboot again.
