When trying to run ewfmgr c: I receive the following
error: "Failed getting protected volume configuration
with error 1." What does this mean?
Here is what I have done:
1) Built load
2) copied load to a hard drive with FAT16 FS
3) allowed FBA to run
4) ran the convert utility to change to NTFS
5) ran compression
6) ran reseal note: reseal was set to 0

If I do steps 1 and 2 I can get ewfmgr c: to run. I also
can get the commit feature to work but I cannot get
disable feature to work.

Are you trying to do this on a removable CF?
You probably need the EWF partition, which (assuming
you're using a RAM overlay) needs a small amount of space
at the end of the drive to allow it to be created.
Personally I set up my drives with NT, and format them as
NTFS compressed straight away, then just uncompress NTLDR
when I've copied the image on.

Eventually I will take the image to CF but for now I am
working with a 6G drive with the primary partition set to
450MB, so there should be plenty of room for the EWF
partition. Yes I am using a RAM overlay.

Do you format and compress your drive using Disk Manager?
How are you un-compressing the NTLDR?

Paul

I partition and format with Disk Manager.

To uncompress, right-click on the file in explorer and
uncheck the compressed selection in advanced properties.

The error you see from ewfmgr might be a a bug. I don't
remember the details, but have seen the error before. Do
commands like 'ewfmgr c: -enable' work?

Its not strictly necessary to have the ewf partition. I
use ewf without the partition and don't have any problems.
