everytime i hit the spacebar

eveytime i hit the spacebar it highlights "file" or
misses the next letter in the word that i want to type. i
have to click/press the letters on the keyboard twice. i
cant find anything to fix this problem of mine. please
help me fix this.

It's probably a stuck Alt- key.

A good way to test for stuck keys is to open a Command window
and type in the command line. For example, doing that I can duplicate
your symptom by holding an Alt- key and typing. As soon as I hit the
Space bar in that case the Command window's menu opens.

When you unstick a key you may have to press the opposite key.
For example, if RightAlt- is sticking, pressing LeftAlt- may stop it.
