Everything seems ok in 20 sec - MSI K7T Pro 2

Hello anyone!

I have an old MSI K7T Pro2 mobo, 1200 AMD T-bird, and some RAM, Geforce2
AGP card. I know CPU, Graphiccard and RAM is working just fine. PSU
is new.
So this is what happens: Everythings seems ok, D-LED on the mobo is
telling me that during POST it was no problems. After +/- 20 sek. the
monitor goes in to sleepmode, and I cant wake it up again. All fans is
still going, and D-LED are all ok (green). But it seems that the prosess
Im doing stops, --> installation of WinXP

Do anyone have a clue of whats wrong?? Is it the mobo, or is it
something I have done during hardware-installations?

Check the temperatures and voltages.

Try leaving the system sitting in the bios menus instead of
trying to install Windows. Determine if the system would've
crashed (or whatever it is doing) regardless of whether you
were trying to install WinXP.

You wrote that "PSU is new" but is it a good power supply, a
decent name-brand with at least 200W of 3V+5V capacity
(check it's label) ?

I vaguely recall that some K7T Pro2 motherboards had
capacitor problems. It "might" have been the two capacitors
directly above the AGP slot, but I am not sure of this. You
should examine the motherboard for any signs of capacitor
failures- domed tops, vented, leaking residue.

I have a K7T Pro2-A (6330) that went faulty due to a number of bad
capacitors (bulging top, Green "Lelon" brand), so it wouldn't surprise me
that the K7T Pro2 boards would have the same problem.

Additionaly, I would also recommend Kony's suggestions; in the BIOS there is
a section called "PC Health Status" that lists voltages and temperatures.
While it may not be super accurate, it would be worthwhile to at least look
at these for awhile to see if anything is/goes way out of line.
