Gurus,

On my Windows XP Professional home computer, if I double-click on the
Date/Time applet I can get in, but on the Internet Time tab, everything on
that tab is grayed out. I am not an administrator for this computer, my son
has me running under something called "limited user". He asked me to ask
you all in this group what the problem could be, as he is at a loss. I want
to set it to a server other than time.windows.com.

That _is_ the problem: by default, only an administrator can change
the time settings.

Either have him set up the time synchronization you want, or have him
go into the Policy Editor and grant you the right to change time
settings.

Maybe I wasn't clear in the Start>run box that pops
up type "gpedit.msc" then hit OK. Are you trying to
get in under your limited account? I don't think
you can. Your son will have to do it under his login.
