Doh! The other day my system admin walked by my station
and I called him over. I wanted to back up my reoccuring
task list in a separate place because I was worried that
it was unsafe having all my important info saved in one
place. So he tried to change the location of all my files
from the server to a specific computer. In doing so my
computer lost all the things i had saved (tasks, Phone
book, notes, etc.). The only thing that kept were my
incoming emails and my old emails. anyone have any ideas
on how to restore to old settings or location of files??
He's stumped :(

Thanks,
Alexis

Lost from where? From the Exchange server? See if you can
place them back with the undelete function under Tools.

Otherwise let him check the back-ups ;-)

Good Luck!

Actually, the "Recover Deleted Items," function is greyed
out. What I think happened is he switched the location of
where the computer looks for my settings and files to this
new, "off server," location. He succeded in making my
emails go to the same spot, but as for the rest of it :(

We never actually DELETED anything, so hopefully i can
find out where my origonal storage location was. He says
something about there being lots of people with profiles
etc. using outlook, and doesnt know which one (if any) was
me.

Sounds like you need to put your network admin in for evaluation. *jk*
What version of outlook are you using?

Does he know where your files are? He may try using the "import" function
under "File" to restore everything.

*if i'm not mistaken* the default location of your .pst files is...
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

I would see if he can put a copy of your files back where they go, or try to
import the files and settings back to the way they were.

Good Luck

Indeed, someone is getting a remark on his evaluation here :-D

The "Recover deleted items" function is greyed out because he hasn't
configured the undelete functionality on the server.
So if I understand correctly you've got an empty Exchange mailbox and a
pst-file with only mail items? So basically you are looking for the
Contacts, Calendar, Notes and Journal and any self configured folders which
are now showing up empty on Exchange? If this is the case I'm afraid they
are gone and I hope he knows how to restore from back-up :-S

Heh, that is what i was hoping I wasn't going to hear.
Well, thanks to all who helped out on this one. I kinda
figured out a way to restore it all by researching my past
history on those days to find out the exacts that were on
my re-occuring task lists. That and sometimes I print it
out before i do them. I havnt't emptied my trash can for
a while now, so there may be one or two in there. Once
again, THANKS ALL!
