I noticed a 'Everyone' & SYSTEM groups accounts in all the folders of win2k
server. But on the 'Computer Management', 'Local Users and Groups', i don't
find the accounts. What are these accounts? Is it necessary to be there &
can i remove from the permission lists?

Those are special accounts that you can not control membership of and there
are a lot more. The system account is necessary as the name implies and
should be left alone in ntfs permissions. The everyone group has excessive
permissions in the root/drive folder where you probably want to change it to
read/list/execute and you can remove it if you replace it with the users
group in most cases. Unless you really know what you are doing, I would not
change ntfs permissions on the \winnt folder and subfolders. If you can,
take a look at the default ntfs permissions on a XP Pro installation which
is failry secure and a good guide to go by. --- Steve
