My roomamte just moved in. Upon setting up his PIII w/ WinXP Home...he's got no video...all disk drives keep spinning...and from what i can tell from the little disk drive LED - those are spinning too - but no read "sound". What gives? We have opened it up - taken it apart and put it back together to make sure nothing came loose in the move. Same action - none. Please, if anybody has any ideas it would be most appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Hi

Have you installed the chipset drivers for the motherboard as well as the sound card drivers and vedio card drivers

NO video, or not booting into Windows? Anything appear on
screen? POST screen (displaying hardware info)? Did he
just put this machine together? Was it running before?
BTW, is the video on board or is there a video card? Is
the monitor attached to the (correct) video card? :-)
I.E. are there two connectors and is it plugged into the
right one? Has he been fiddling with the BIOS?

Make sure that all componets (Video card, RAM, CPU, cables) are correctly
inserted and in their repective places correctly. If still no video, then
he may have been very unlucky and something may be "fried"

I assume that the 'little disk drive' is the floppy drive then that means
the flat ribbon cable connected to this drive is backwards.

Thanks for the reply - but what I meant was the little
LED light that shows HDD action on the front of the
tower. Thanks, though.

Thanks for the input. That just may be the case. All the
cooling fans are going - all drives are spinning -
nothing else - not even the sound of the HDD's reading. I
am clueless. It was working before the move! Thanks for
your time!

No video - no sound (except the for the sound of the
cooling fans) - no post screen - nothing. Becasuse even
though the drive lights are all lit up - I don't even
hear the HDDs reading. Yes it was running before. I am
clueless! Thanks for your time!
