i recently had to reinstall my copy of win XP with SP2 and have updated all
of the required and reccomended files such as SP3 and .Net framework 3.5 sp1
with .Net framework family edition.

am having a very irritating issue that i cannot seem to resolve.
it seems that just about EVERY SINGLE file or program i try to obtain
downloads without issue. but the probelem presists while attempting to
install the downloads.
every time i try to install a file, driver, or program to my system i ALWAYS
get some kind of corrupt file error..

i know every file located on the WWW is not corrupt....
Has anyone else ran into this or a similar issue and can provide some kind
of a solution for this ?

help is greatly appreciated! thank you in advance.

After reinstall did you install chipset and other drivers specific to your
sys, either from PC makers site, if large OEM eg Dell or Laptop, or from hw
manufacturers site if a generic PC, and NOT used MS Update for drivers

Has your system installed a download manager or faster downloader - I have
known these installations to create corrupted downloaded files and they can
be quite easy to accidentally install one. The main difference is there is
usually some sort of branding or logo displayed when downloading instead of
the "normal" Microsoft download file interface.

yes, i have installed (to my knowledge) all of the required driver programs
via CD provided with the hardware.

i have tryed to update most of them via the manufacturer's website for each
driver installation, but am recieving the same corrupt file error and am not
having any luck up dating those files either.

i dont believe i have used the microsoft website to update any drivers. only
to update service packs and security updates to my knowledge...

how would i know if i have a version of an update driver installation from
the microsoft website, is there a way to tell? and how can i fix this if i
discover i have used the MS site for them?

not that i know of. the download window seems to be normal to me..
th only programs installed on my pc that i have little knowledge of are.

MBSA 2.1
microsoft silverlight

thanks for the tip.

What chipset is your mobo using? There was a problem, which I thought had
been overcome, on as I recollect Nvidea chipset that included a firewall
type app (Active Armour?) that resulted in download corruption
