HELP!!! Recently had to reinstall my windows XP Now my everquest won't install it keeps saying access denied whats wrong? Help? thanks Rob
 
Does the account that you're trying to install the game under have admin
privileges?

If not, log in as admin and give that account admin rights.

Does your computer auto-log you in or do you have to click on your name when
the computer first boots up and then it logs you into the computer?
 
At the logon screen where you click on your name, press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete
keys twice and you'll bring up an alternative logon screen. If you did a
fairly straight forward install you should be able to type "administrator"
in the user name field and logon ad the main administrator account for the
machine. Once logged onto the machine as administrator, click on Start ->
Control Panel -> User Accounts and from there you should be able to select
your regular account and change the account type to "Administrator". Logging
back in under your name should now enable you to install EQ with admin
rights.
 
Another question: Have you installed the game and are getting this error
during the patch/update process or is this when trying to first install the
game?
 
Here is a possible solution to your issue in case you've been able to
install Everquest are are getting this error during the patch/update
process:

EverQuest: Error: Access Denied
In this case you will want to enter your EverQuest directory, and
delete the file that the patch is currently trying to download. For example,
if the patch were trying to download the file eqgame.ex_ then you would want
to delete the file eqgame.exe from your EverQuest directory, and then rerun
the patch program to begin the download again. You should then be able to
run the patch without further errors.
 
i tryed that but i needed a password and just so u know my other games install fine just EverQuest dosnt install
 
like Everyone else who plays it i am addicted and wanna get back on as soon as possible so i hope u can help me fix this it only says couldnt install a installation support file acess denied
 
Hi Rob,

At this point I can't tell if this is an access issue with your admin rights
within Windows or if this is something specific to the Everquest install.
While I look around some more make sure that you go here:

There are forums there as well where you can post the issue to (much like
the news group here) and if it does end up being something specific to
Everquest then hopefully someone there will be able to relate their
experience with it.

soon as possible so i hope u can help me fix this it only says couldnt
install a installation support file acess denied
 
when i try to log on as the administrator it says its restricted and it says diff if i put in a wrong pass so i think it insnt a password problem
