Does anyone know what DCOM is. I see it is the source of
a peristent error shown in the event viewer. I wondered
if it might be important or if the computers performance
could be improved if i knew what it was.
 
It's a part of the network setup, specifically, it is a protocol that
enables software components to communicate directly over a network and that
includes online services. Look at the time when the error occurs. Check to
see if it appears to be happening during bootup. If yes, this is not
unusual as the system tests various items during bootup and the system
cannot go online or access a network in that period so you might get a DCOM
failure during that period.

Thanks I think I understand It has been testing items
during boot up
 
Yes, well, items are tested during bootup and if they can't initialize at
that time as in the example I posted, you'll get a failure notice.
