my computer was set up by someone else. i now believe this person has access
to my computer through a network. when i looked at event viewer tonight when
i logged on one of the events was number 518. this event is described as, the
security accounts manager has started. it said this manager will be notified
of any password chaanges. what is up with this. i am new to computers just so
you all know. i believe anything i do on my computer is seen. i think i am a
remote computer to her computer or to her server . this is my computer and i
am denied access to things. how do i find out if my computer is accessed by
another. please help. i payed 500 dollars to someone to wipe my computer
clean. and as soon as i plugged it in to the modem it all started again. when
she set up this computer originally, it was on her wireless router. now it is
plugged in to modem. thanks

Hello Harry,
first go right click on MyComputer-Properties-Remote-RemoteDesktop-check
is there enabled
Allow users to connect remotely to this computer,if is enabled, disable it.
Check your user accounts change your password and remove all other accounts,
go to control panel-administrative tools-computer menagment-system tools-shared
folders-shares-
and remove all shares-c$-d$-Admin$ and all your shared folders.
Shutdown these services:
Remote access conection menager
Remote procedure calls
Remote registry
I hope this will help.
And try to install some firewall and some program to monitor computer activities.

Harry,

Right-clicking on 'My Computer' , selecting 'Properties' , then selecting
'Remote' tab and unchecking 'Allow users to connect remotely to this
computer' (click OK) should be enough to keep this person off your computer.
You can't disable' Remote Procedure Call' in Services. Just make sure your
'Windows Firewall' is on with no 'Exceptions' for 'Remote Desktop' &
'Remote Assistance' .
Now go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change an account > There should
be only one user account, for yourself, plus a 'Guest' account which may be
on or off. Any others should be removed.
Now click into your account, select 'Change my account type'. Only one
option should be available, 'Computer Administrator', if so, x-out 'User
Accounts'.
