I've had this problem on a number of machines: The event
viewr log shows hundreds or thousands of events, but the
right-hand screen enumerating these events never
populates. I've tried any number of things to get it to
come up, but it won't. I can often view one log, but not
another.Has anyone else run into this? Does anybody know
of any fixes? Thans.

The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;
