I have a customer whose services seem not to be
regisetered in the registry. At the time that the
services start, almost all of the services give a message
similar to:
The description for Event ID ( <eventid#> ) in Source (
<servicename> ) cannot be found. The local computer may
not have the necessary registry information or message
DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You
may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this
description; see Help and Support for details.
It could be a simple meaning such as "The service has
started". This happens for almost all services.
After the services finish starting, then the Application
Log gets filled with Perflib error messages mostly Event
ID 1008. I tried executing the following batch script to
no avail:
c:
cd \winnt\system32
unlodctr w3svc
unlodctr msftpsvc
unlodctr asp
unlodctr inetinfo
lodctr w3ctrs.ini
lodctr ftpctrs.ini
lodctr axperf.ini
lodctr infoctrs.ini
cd \program files\Exchsrvr\bin
