Steve

Good Morning,

I have many servers with Windows 2000 server SP 4 and all
current updates as of 11/09/03. This is what is going on.
On some of the servers not all I am not able to see
either the APP log, the system log or both even after a
refresh. I know there is something there because when you
click in the display window you can see the blue bar as
if it were trying to highlight the event. If you clear
the affected log or logs then you can see the new events.
If you save the log file that your not able to view and
re-open it there is still nothing displayed. Imagine
that !!
Gets even better.... I have noticed, lets say if you know
the app log is visible on a server but you click the
affected system log first then go back and try viewing
the app log again I can't until I refresh the app log.
Is this a feature with SP4? Is this a problem with a
patch? Is there a fix for this? Any insight would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
SJ

I had the exact same problem you describe below on one of
our servers. The only way I resolved it was to clear the
log that was giving me the problem...in my case it was the
application log. Once I cleared it the problem has not
resurfaced.
