I have this computer that's running an instrument that is having problems
with the software that runs the instrument. The program is freezing.

I looked in the event log and there's frequent EventLog 6004 errors and from
what I can read it looks like it's got something to do with
mrxsmb\device\lanman redirector our domain name then net b t tcpip then a
bunch of meaningless numbers.

Virtually every machine on my network gets that mrxsmb warning, and last I
checked there isn't a fix for it, but this an actual error, and I'm getting
complaints that it's effecting their runs so I've got to address it.

Does this mean I need to update the network card driver or something? This
is effecting how the instrument runs and I need to figure out how to fix it.

Hi Penny,
First of all we need the exact wording of the error messages(X) in the event
viewer and the Windows Version.

Sorry it's Windows XP SP2

EventLog 6004 The exact wording is "A driver packet received from the I/O
subsystem was invalid. The data is the packet.

and in the data section from what I can read is what I put in my original
post.

If the suggestion by Nass fails to help.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

I have this in an event log - look like to is related to either the SnagIT
printer driver mapping though when loggin in via RDP or a general mapping of
printers issue via RDP.
I think something to do with SnagITs printer as I only see the issue on one
monitored machine....

Please post a complete copy of the Event Viewer Report.
