I keep getting this event in the DNS logs. The various IP
addresses that it claims are impoperly configured are not
my IPs nor the two IPs that my DDNS is set to forward (to
my ISP).
I read KB http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;838969 but it offers no explaination of what
is going on and what to do about it other than contact MS
support for a possible fix.
Anyone have ideas on where these misconfigured forwarders
are comming into the picture. I am 95% sure they are not
IP addresses of DNSs that even my ISP is pointing to.
eg.
198.6.100.37
198.6.1.18
198.6.1.19
198.6.1.82
198.6.100.37
193.0.0.193
151.164.11.218
192.5.6.32
157.151.95.203
64.89.70.4
my own IPs are all private in the 192.168.x.x range
and my ISPs that I forward to is 206.28.99.xx range
One final note, my lan interfaces on the server is just
set to DNS = 127.0.0.1 which is what one gets when they
leave it blank and have DNS running on the box.
Using nslookup on the server seems to work, but often
times out with no answer the first try. A second repeat
query almost always gets the right result if the first one
didn't.
Same problem on two different servers. One has only one
NIC and private IP. The other has two NIC with a private
IP and a public IP (changing that soon to only one,
though).
thanks in advance for any hints.
