My Windows XP system is failing to boot up properly and keeps giving me the black screen and asking if I want to go to Safe Mode or load previous good configuration etc. This is happening nearly daily now!

I checked Event log and it shows the following:

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
Event ID: 7026
Source: Service Control Manager
Version: 5.0
Component: System Event Log
Symbolic Name: EVENT_BOOT_SYSTEM_DRIVERS_FAILED
Message: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
szkg

I have no idea what szkg is!

Any ideas on how to fix this as it's driving me mad?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi mate

szkg is a Stopzilla file.
Run MSConfig to remove it from startup and then remove/uninstall it.
If you have further difficulties, post up and let us know.

Thanks Kev.

I only had stopzilla for a trial and uninstalled it months ago! Plus, when I run msconfig there is nothing there to suggest it's trying to load it. Weird or what!

Anything else I can try?

Kev,

Thanks very much that worked a treat! I'd never even heard of CrapCleaner before, but it identified Stopzilla in the start up and stopped it in it's tracks. Plus, it fixed a load of other sins in my system.

Cheers!
